Get your lampshades to sparkle forever

Have you ever wondered what you should do to keep your lampshades looking as good as new? How do you keep them dust free — with a duster, with your hands or by using a vacuum cleaner? Here’s how…
* Regular dusting is the best treatment you could give any lampshade. Use a soft cloth, or feather duster.
* Lampshades come in several materials. They should be dusted keeping the material used in mind.

Paper shades

* Clean the spots using an art-gum eraser.
* To keep parchment paper lampshades from drying out, try rubbing them with castor oil once in six months.

Cotton, linen or silk

* Cotton, linen or silk shades should be professionally dry-cleaned.

Synthetic shades
* Rayon and nylon shades that are sewn to their frames can be washed
